Nearly 9 months

In the last post Adam wrote that Matthew is looking more and more like Hayden every day. Well over the last few weeks everyone is telling us he is nothing like Hayden! He is probably more like Sophie these days. He still has the dark eyes he has had since birth, and while his hair has lightened up quite a bit it is still brown...unlike Hayden who was blonde at this age.

Matthew is now into the solids, and on formula - stopped breastfeeding at about 7.5 months. He is a really happy baby and is now commando crawling around the house. Started lifting up onto hands and knees but hasn't quite worked out how to move from there. He is giving us a bit of grief by waking up at least twice during the night. Not sure what hapened to my good little sleeper I had early on. He is no longer being wrapped, and enjoys the freedom of being able to move around the cot. On night he always sleeps on his back, but during the day he has taken to this...

Measurements update (8 months);

Weight: 8.38kg Height: 69cm Head circumference: 46.7

Like his brother and sister he must have big brains as this puts him in the 90th percentile for head circumference. It also means his weight has dropped from the 75th percentile back to just above the 25th percentile - "just means he is in more proportion to his length" the nurse comments. Losing those chubby cheeks? You decide...

6 ish month update!

Matthew is growing into yet another Gilbert child with beautiful long eyelashes and chubby cheeks that you just wanna pinch! He is becoming more and more like Hayden everyday and looking back through photos, he is really the spitting image. Matthew has a similiar temperament to Hayden and the Gilbert boys are certainly more laidback than their sister!

Matthew is weighing in at approximately 7.5kg and as yet still hasn't really even started on the solids. He just can't seem to work his tongue out and isn't showing too much interest in boring old Farax! Just wait until he works out that there is more to life than just mum's booby juice.
Matthew is becoming increasingly active. Rolling over is the first motion when placed on his back and seems to much rather his stomach these days. He is reaching out to grab things and showing a keen interest in most moving and colourful objects. He takes great delight in watching Sophie and Hayden do what ever it is they are doing.

Progress report

We've now had a couple of health checks at the nurse, and Matthew is going really well.

Feeding well, sleeping well (the last couple of nights I've only had to get up once for a feed, around 2 or 3am, then not again until 7am, last feed at night about 9pm), growing well.

Introducing our beautiful boy, Matthew Noah Gilbert.

Matthew is a good little boy, feeding and sleeping well. His big brother and sister are absolutely besotted and are constantly asking for a hold. He has a full crop of hair and loves sleeping with his guns up like Hayden used to.
